Karolina and Santiago traveled far north (but not beyond the Wall) to represent our research in the beautiful capital of Finland.
The International Congress of Entomology 2022 took place in Helsinki in July. Santiago presented our work regarding the Time of development of the forensically important carrion beetle Thanatophilus sinuatus (Silphidae: Silphinae) at constant temperatures. This research is important for correct determination of Post-Mortem Interval (or in other words – time of death) in criminalistics. Karolina presented a poster about the Phylogenetic position of the genera Ablattaria, Phosphuga and Silpha, as the phylogenetics of Silphinae are still incomplete and this work represents an important piece in solving the puzzle.
Our colleagues from the Insect Ecology group were also present on the conference, you can check their page here.
