Human Adaptability Studies
The research group focuses on Human Adaptability, understood as a key overarching theme for interdisciplinary research on human survival and future development. We study interrelated aspects of environmental and social adaptations.
Our research aims at patterns of human subsistence across time and space and includes investigations of serious disturbances in the living conditions introduced either by the natural forces or by previous human activity.
The ability to cope with rapid changes of our natural and/or social environment is – besides the biological plasticity of our bodies – dependent on the cultural and technological preparedness to such changes.
