- pay the application fee CZK 750/30 € – online in the e-application or by bank transfer (do not forget to apply your registration number as a specific symbol)
* Students who did not complete their master’s degree yet but expect to complete it before October 2023 should provide us the Study results report.
How to choose your supervisor & topic
In the application you have to state your prospective supervisor, department and dissertation thesis topic. Here is a list of topics for the academic year 2024/2025. If there is not only a supervisor but also a consultant (adviser), it means that you will work in cooperation with both of them. Do not forget to state your consultant in the application, too. To contact your prospective supervisor before submitting an application is highly recommended.
If you have your own research idea, you can ask a supervisor (find the List of supervisors of your desired study programme) to announce a topic for you.

The applications for PhD studies will be accepted in two stages. The first stage is the main admission period, and the second stage is meant for replenishing vacancies and is not suitable for students who need to evaluate their foreign diplomas.
Entrance examination
The entrance examination is points awarded interview, which proves your research interests (20 points) and English language skills (10 points). We also accept English certificates at the B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Foreign applicants are allowed to ask for online examination (Skype, videoconference). The result will be announced online in your e-application.
Diploma recognition
Before issuing of the Letter of acceptance, the verification of your master’s diploma is required (so-called nostrification or evaluation). This is administrated by the Rectorate. Find the relevant information here:
Note: The nostrification process takes usually 30 days, but maybe you will need to obtain Apostille or Superlegalization in the country of origin of your diploma first. Please begin with nostrification on time as it may cause a delay with your Letter of acceptance and thus a delay of your visa.
Enrolment
To become a student of the faculty and start your studies you have to register on the day of enrolment, which is stated in the Letter of acceptance. Your documents must be complete and the tuition fee 5000 CZK must be paid (at the cash desk in Library building or by bank transfer with your registration number as a specific symbol). The academic year starts on October 1, 2023.
Scholarships
Full-time students are awarded with basic scholarship 10.000 – 16.000 CZK monthly. The details and extraordinary scholarships are stated in the Dean’s regulation No.14/2020. To increase your basic scholarship, you can become a Leading research group member or apply for the Internal grant.
