This doctoral field is conceived from the technical and biological disciplines, which together create the desired combination of knowledge. Research of the effective reduction of the damaging impact of hydrological extremes of floods and droughts, and adversely, increasing ecological stability while enhancing the aquatic environment of a landscape, are the general themes of this field. It focuses on the study of soil conservation, hydrological processes with applications primarily in agriculture and forestry, mathematical modelling of hydrological processes, transport processes in surface and subsurface waters, the study of soil-forming processes, reclamation of mined areas, revitalization of watercourses and, in particular, the design of optimal biotechnical measures that deal with the regulation of water regimes of a landscape.
