Traineeship description and evaluation:
The internship activities that I did were part of a research project about the ecohydrology of restored-quarry-ecosystems. Which were mainly focus on literature review, data collection in the field and lab, data management and statistical analysis and paper writing. I had the opportunity to learn about field and lab techniques. Also, learn to work with R software.
Personal comments and culture shock:
Due to the recent coronavirus situation and the measurements from governments to avoid the spread of the virus and control de pandemic in Spain. I did not have too much social interaction or too many opportunities to be in contact with Spanish culture during my stay. However, I had a good relationship with the research team I was working with.
I had a hard time being alone most of the time in the lab (due to covid-19 restrictions) and deciding what to do after we realized I could not finish the experiments since the university lab was closed on lockdown, and finding myself alone and isolated in another country away from friends and family. But my supervisors were there not only as supervisors but as caring people.
