Abstract:
The main delivery of the project is to provide unique insights to the evolutionary patterns of American and Euro Asiatic species of Chenopodium album agg. by studying the phylogenetic relationships among species. Many species of diploid-polyploid complex of C. album evolved through hybridization and polyploidization events. However, different studies brought contradictory results most likely due to incomplete sampling design – the number of species studied is not sufficient. We will apply a combination of classical karyology for precise chromosome number determination, flow cytometry for ploidy level estimation and Hyb-Seq method for construction of well resolved phylogenetic tree.
