Abstract:
Main aim of this project proposal is to enhance water/nutrients retention in soil with its consequent impact to the fertility of selected crops in agriculturally utilized area using biochar – obtained from waste biomass. The project will be realized in agriculturally utilized area which have been repeatedly affected by drought. Specific aims are follows: to produce biochar in order to significantly enhance water/nutrients retention in soil – laboratory tests of various
biochars on soil hydraulic properties; monitoring of biomass production and stress factors, respectively, on the selected crops; in situ biochar application and monitoring of long-term effect on water/nutrients retention in previously selected and problematic area(s)
