Abstract:
First objective of the project is a classification of the CR territory with respect to potential utility of irrigation and available water in present and future climate considering terrain morphology, soil characteristics, drought risk and rainfall variability, taking into account estimated volume of available water. Options for small water retention in the landscape for different irrigation system sizes will be assessed as well. Second objective is a design and implementation of irrigated soil water regime monitoring system as a tool for optimization of irrigation systems and water resources management. The system will be tested at two pilot localities representing local and centralized irrigation systems.
