Project title EN: Complex evaluation of the application of sewage sludge in agriculture with respect to emerging pollutants
Project number: QK21020022
Project duration: 01/2021 - 12/2023
Project coordinator: Czech University of Life Sciences Prague
Donor: NAZV (Ministry of Agricultural)
Program: ZEMĚ
Project leader of FES: prof. RNDr. Michael Komárek, Ph.D.
Contact person: Ing. Hana Jenšíková
Project budget of FES: 3 299 001 CZK (Total budget 11 998 365 CZK)
Project aims:
The aim of the project is to evaluate the suitability of altered sewage sludge (composted, pyrolyzed) application to agricultural soils with the emphasis on so-called micropollutants (or emerging pollutants, i.e., pharmaceuticals, endocrine disruptors, perfluorinated compounds, microplastics) and “traditional” pollutants (metals, metalloids, PAH, PCB) in relation to soil characteristics. The leachability of pollutants, their uptake by agricultural crops, their effect on soil microbiota, nutrient availability, content/quality of soil organic matter and water retention in soils after sludge application will be evaluated using laboratory (leaching and pH-stat experiments) and field experiments.
