Abstract:
The main goal of the project is to set up 3 new methodological tools that will help nature conservation authorities to introduce more effective and sustainable maintenance of extremely valuable areas formed by past military activities. The development of the tools will be based on an objective evaluation of the long-term land-use impact on biodiversity in more than forty sites in the Czech Republic. The implementation of project outputs will subsequently lead to restoration of specific habitats in former military training areas, strengthening of populations of endangered organisms typically inhabiting former military lands and to the overall improvement of ecosystem functions associated with these unique areas.
