Abstract:
The main project aim is the methodology development for quick semi-quantitative survey of contaminated sites by petroleum substances using a natural Rn tracer.
Due to their massive use, petroleum substances are a very common pollutant. The development of new methods for surveying sites contaminated with this type of contaminant will allow more efficient use of available financial resources and will also contribute to accelerating the removal of environmental burdens with this type of contamination. Removal of old environmental burdens, which pose a major risk to the health of the population and to ecosystems, is also one of the priorities of the Ministry of the Environment.
The aim of the project is to develop and validate a methodology for rapid semi-quantitative investigation of petroleum contaminated sites using the natural tracer Rn. This objective fully corresponds to the priority research objective 2.10. Effective tools for reducing anthropogenic risks in the field of remediation and hazardous waste management with the aim of minimising the negative impact on human health and the environment.
