A new promising collaboration with the Global Runoff Data Centre (GRDC) has been successfully established. The aim of the co-operation is to utilize global data series of observed discharge available at GRDC, in order to detect changes in hydrologic conditions and determine their statistical significance. This will serve several purposes: e.g. quantification of inter-annual variability, determination of the statistical properties of extremes (drought and floods) and evaluation of the homogenization methods for the improvement of the data quality. he results of such analysis will increase our understanding of important physical and statistical properties of hydrological variables and broaden the context for climate change impact assessment and development of adaptation strategies.
