We published what might be the most bizarre research in the history of the Insect Ecology Team. In this study, we tested the mating behaviour of ladybird males with dead females. It turned out that the males' libido and the age of the female corpses are significant factors. Surprisingly, even 14-day-old corpses (slightly decomposed) can still attract males for mating. It was also shocking that about 25% of males refused to mate with any female (alive or dead).
