The effect of environmental temperature on insect development rate does not differ between sexes. This quite unexpected discovery (theoretical expectations were rather the opposite) was published by Tiit Teder in his meta-analysis in Evolution Letters. It seems that the possible evolutionary advantages of different response rates for males and females (e.g., faster growth of the sexes with larger body size at the most common environmental temperature) are eliminated by physiological constraints.
