In the first half of September 2021, we visited the Institute for Environmental Sciences, University of Koblenz-Landau, where we discussed the possibilities of future collaboration in joint projects focused on insect ecology and conservation with Dr Martin Entling (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Martin-Entling). Our trip across Germany continued north towards the University of Münster, where we visited the Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity, specifically the laboratory of Dr Jan Büllesbach (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Jan-Buellesbach). Here, as part of our behavioural experiments with ladybirds, we collaborate on the analysis of cuticular hydrocarbons, which are partly responsible for chemical communication between individuals.
